Graphology Approaches

There are essentially four approaches of graphology – Integrative Graphology, Holistic Graphology, Symbolic Analysis and Underlying Movement. Interactive graphology focuses on the stroke formation in relation to personality traits. Holistic graphology is developed on the basis of Gestalt Graphology, in which a profile is built on the basis of the interaction between Form, Space and Movement. Symbolic analysis focuses on identifying the embedded symbols included in the writing. The underlying movement approach is an inherited form of International Graphology Association. It is based on the assumption of analyzing the procedure of development of the pattern of different strokes and its corresponding and comparative interpretation in relation to the entire writing style.

Significance of Graphology

Graphology is the science of specialization in hand writing, but more precisely it is a method that is employed to evaluate an individual's inherent characteristics. However, the real experts specializing in handwriting are not known as graphologist. They are specifically known as Forensic document examiners who put the emphasis on loops, dots, crosses letters, spacing in-between the letters, inclinations, heights, finishing strokes, etc. They particularly evaluate handwriting in order to determine the possibility of forgery or legitimacy. Similar to this, graphologists also analyze loops, dots, crosses letters, spacing in-between the letters, inclinations, heights, finishing strokes, etc, but they assert on the principle of unconscious psychological functions manifesting the structure of the hand writing physically. According to graphological belief, these in-depth characters of hand writing can only be compared with the understanding of astrological study, palmistry, psychometric evaluation, butt reading, etc. However, till now there is no scientific documentation listed yet confirming the possible influence of unconscious mind over the absolute certainty of an individual. In addition, it has not been even proved that the study of graphology has opened any pathway to both the arena concerned.

As claimed by its proponents, the application of graphology is really vast. It can be applied in recognizing and managing health related issues, possible mortality, talents, psychological disorders and past experiences. However, many studies strongly disagree on this aspect since these studies did not get any improved evidence concerning experiments conducted in a controlled environment. The skeptics suggest that during the studies the graphologists did not do any better performance and their action more or less resembled the action of astrologers. They did not do any thing better than an astrologer. Additionally, the skeptics also emphasized that the evaluation of gender can be made possible by non-experts in majority of the times.
